Lagacio, Italy (Review)
As soon as we arrived at Lagacio and parked the car in the underground garage, Anil appeared as if my magic. From that point on it was obvious to me that this was a quality establishment. After a two hour delay and the usual mountain transfer, this was how a welcome should be. As the luggage was safely deposited in our room, we sat in comfortable chairs sipping prosecco. Perfect!
Some rooms have the WOW factor, some just leave you disappointed. There was no disappointment in this room or should I say apartment. There were a few 'oohs and aahs' as we walked around the chic space we were now able to call home for a few days. Everything about it screamed quality, from the kitchen fittings to the huge bed and fabulous shower. Our apartment, (Megalodonte) was for two people and comprised dressing space, kitchen, living area, bedroom and bathroom. The attention to detail is superb but if I was to be really pedantic I would like to see a DVD player in the room. The other minor gripe would be the sofa in our apartment was too hard and not conducive to relaxation.
Lagacio does not have a restaurant but does serve a fabulous breakfast in the spacious breakfast room. Again special touches include having your name handwritten on a card and placed on your table. The breakfast is delicious and I can heartily recommend the fresh fruit and orange cake. There are also snacks such as toasted sandwiches to be had at the bar during the day.
Tip: If visiting in school holidays ask reception to book restaurants in advance of your stay.
I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and their willingness to help really made our holiday. It's the little things that make a big difference. A few examples:
We were travelling with my brother in law, wife and 9 month old daughter who on arrival headed straight for their room. The next evening they tried to sign for their drinks but the staff noticed that they had missed their welcome drink from the night before and didn't charge.
On the first morning at breakfast we pulled up a highchair to our table, every morning after that the highchair was already there.
On arriving at the bottom of the slopes we were supposed to ring for the shuttle bus. We never rang once, the bus just appeared.
A special mention has to go to Viviana and Christian who were both an absolute delight.
I didn't get chance to use the spa but there is a full list of treatments available. Surrounded by the beauty of the Dolomites, the main winter activity is skiing. In the summer activities include cycling, hiking and golf. There's no stuffiness in this residence, in fact it is an entirely relaxing place to stay. The bar is small, cosy and never lacks atmosphere and we had no trouble getting a place to sit, my favourite being the comfy sofa.
The rooms may not be cheap but breakfast, parking and shuttle service are included unlike other properties where these can all be additional costs. In my opinion this is a quality property with amazing staff and outstanding service. Highly recommended!
