Hotel Sant Francesc, Palma de Mallorca (REVIEW)

Hotel Sant Francesc, Palma de Mallorca (REVIEW)

01: Location

Overlooking Plaza Sant Francesc looking out on to the Basilica of the same name, this hotel is well located in the heart of Palma. A short walk from the Cathedral it is easy to wander the narrow streets giving access to the restaurants and shops of the city. It is also a quick taxi ride/drive to Portixol or out to the Via Centura. The airport is also an easy 15 minute drive.

02: Room

We stayed in a deluxe room on the second floor which has its own small terrace. A luxurious room, it is well designed and equipped with all the usual mod cons as well as fresh flowers. I always like to see a full length mirror, a decent full length wardrobe with proper hangers and complimentary water. I was not disappointed. The bed deserves its own mention, covered in luxuriously silky sheets (literally feels like silk) which makes for a superb night's sleep. The bathroom has a separate toilet, walk in shower, bathtub and is equipped with HEELEY bath amenities. The lighting also needs a shout out, very sleek indeed.

03: Food

Breakfast is served until 11am and the buffet offers a good selection of meats, cheese, breads, fruits, yoghurts and pastries. Hot dishes can be ordered from the kitchen and I can recommend the crepes. Tea and coffee are individually served. A choice of seating is available either inside or outside in the garden.

 04: Service

If you are only here for a couple of days you don't need a car as everything is within easy reach but if you are taking a longer break on the island and do have a car it is worth taking advantage of the valet parking. It is a difficult area to park in and this service works well. Valet parking costs 25 euros per day and needs to be booked in advance. It was a lovely touch to be handed a couple of bottles of water whenever we left in the car.

05: Facilities

The rooftop terrace is an impressive space which has been cleverly designed incorporating a small pool, bar, sun loungers and seating areas. Overlooking the rooftops of Palma and the beautiful church it is a very relaxing place for a cocktail or a bite to eat. Pool towels are available. If you decide to leave for the beach instead, the hotel also provides towels. The attention to detail here is stunning, from the grand staircase to the huge mirrors. Beautifully restored, you can chill in the lobby or have a drink at the bar, in the open courtyard or up on the rooftop terrace.  The Wi-Fi is included in the room rate and is excellent. I have rarely come across such a quiet system of air conditioning. The temperature had been set before we arrived and didn't need any adjustment.  Perfect!

This is an exquisite restoration situated in one of Palma's oldest quarters. Every aspect of the hotel exudes quality and the staff are ever helpful and friendly. A luxurious base from which to explore the city of Palma and a welcome retreat to come back to in the evening. I would return in a heartbeat....Loved it!
